A composite black is created by mixing YMC and will work for you if you’re not printing barcodes and if you don’t need crisp black text. If you need sharp, black text, use a YMCK ribbon which has a separate black (K) panel for printing black text and graphics.

The fluorescing panel is used to print grayscale text or images that are only visible with ultraviolet (UV) light and are used to provide added card security.

A Fargo YMCKI-KI ribbon is used for dual-sided printing. The YMCKI panels provide for full-color printing on the front side with an inhibitor panel and black monochrome printing on the back side with an inhibitor panel. The inhibitor panels are used to prevent printing on specific parts of cards such as magnetic stripes, chips and signature panel.

The 7 panels of a YMCKI-KI ribbon correspond to (Y=Yellow, M=Magenta, C=Cyan, K=Black, I=Inhibitor, K=Black, I=Inhibitor) and is used for dual-sided card printing.
