The Fargo HDP5000 card printer is targeted towards users who want to produce high definition cards - something that looks more like a glossy photo rather than an ordinary employee ID card. This is accomplished through the use of Fargo's HDP print technology which basically prints the card's image in reverse on the underside of a blank film image (HDP film); this image is then transferred (re-fused) to the card's surface. This method achieves high print quality in two ways: 1) printing to the film allows for higher image quality and 2) by NOT having to print to a card directly, uneven card surfaces becomes a non-issue. Another benefit of HDP technology is that because the HDP5000 printhead does NOT come into direct contact with the card surface, it is unlikely to ever be damaged! Fargo first introduced HDP, aka High Definition Printing, in 1999 and has been advancing the process since. Today, the HDP5000 provides a reliable, affordable solution for cards requiring sharp image quality. Cards can be printed and/or laminated, single or double-sided with multiple encoding options. Other key features of the HDP5000 printer include: - HDP Dye-Sublimation / Resin Thermal Transfer (300dpi)
- 100 card input/200 card output hoppers
- CR-80 Cards Only (30-50 mil thickness)
- Optional single-sided or dual-sided laminator, magnetic stripe and contact/contactless smart card encoders
- 3-year printer and lifetime printhead warranty
