HID FlexSmart MIFARE cards are popular as they are the size of a credit card and based on open/standard contactless smart card technology. They are designed to be used in a broad range of applications such as campus applications, event ticketing, access control, cashless vending, public transportation and more. From a technical perspective, these MIFARE cards can be used to store multiple applications on a single credential. More importantly, these cards use a authentication process to help ensure that no card data can be shared until both the reader and the card have mutually authenticated themselves (the data on the card is encrypted). To help ensure the security of these cards, anti-counterfeiting techniques for visual identification like holograms, ultra-violet ink, and custom logos can be used. The following table shows the base FlexSmart MIFARE card configurations: |
